Basic Function

Under the supervision of the Senior Food Services Worker, assists in planning and preparing meals; assists in procuring supplies; and to do other work as required.

Representative Duties

1. Assists in the planning, preparation and storage of foods in accordance to guidelines set by the State Nutrition Program. E

2. Prepares number of meals (breakfast, lunch, and p.m. supplements), for the children in the Center. E

3. Records specialized information for documentation purposes. E

4. Assists in shopping for necessary supplies for use in the meal program. E

Knowledge and Abilities

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Basic food preparation, health and safety procedures for the kitchen.

ABILITY TO:
  • Follow directions and also have the skills to work independently.
  • Use and care for basic kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

Education and Experience

Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities for carrying out the duties and responsibilities of the position.

Foreign Degrees

Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.

Desired Qualifications

CPR and First Aid, Serve Safe Food Safety Certificate, experience working in a state funded food program.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Be able to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
