Job Description
SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT (SCM) POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Center for Transportation & Logistics (CTL)-Supply Chain Management (SCM), to support the research and teaching activities related to streamline digital transformation, machine learning, and data analytics applied in logistics and supply chain management. CTL conducts research, outreach, and educational activities with a number of companies, organizations, and governments. The MIT Supply Chain Management (SCM) program is CTL’s degree-granting program. Will support graduate-level teaching activities for both the Supply Chain Management residential (SCMr) and Supply Chain Management blended (SCMb) options. Will serve as mentor and thesis/capstone project advisor; support the development and scoping of sponsoring projects with corporate partners; publish in leading academic and business-oriented journals; assist with teaching activities; provide support for student management, events, orientations, and related activities; and perform other duties as needed.
Job Requirements:REQUIRED: Ph.D. in supply chain management, logistics, transportation, operations management, industrial engineering, operations research, computer science, information systems, business management, or related field; in-depth research knowledge/experience in one or more of the following: data-driven logistics/supply chain, supply chain analytics, statistical analysis and probability, and/or machine learning/artificial intelligence; publications--or potential for publications--in academic journals in the field; coding proficiency, preferably in Python; excellent communication and presentation skills; self-motivation; interest in research, teaching, and other academic activities; and willingness to contribute to the success of the SCM program and CTL’s broader mission. PREFERRED: in-depth knowledge of and relevant experience with applied projects on data analytics and machine learning in the context of logistics, supply chain, operations, and/or related fields; and experience teaching (e.g., support, TA, or leading lectures) courses on logistics and supply chain management and/or in quantitative-oriented courses, e.g., coding, statistics, and/or analytics.
