Position Summary
The Human Resources Department at the College of Saint Benedict and Saint John's University invite applicants for the full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Human Resources Partner. This is an entry level, hybrid position; typically requiring 3 days a week on campus.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources Partners and Recruiting, the Human Resources Partner (HRP), as a part of the Strategic HR Partnering team, has primary responsibility to be a proactive strategic human resources partner to managers and staff in designated departments, participating in staff and leadership meetings and providing guidance and consultation regarding strategic planning as it relates to the full employee life cycle. This includes organizational design, organizational development, succession and workforce planning, employee relations, sourcing and recruiting in partnership with the Recruiting Coordinator, and benefits and compensation in partnership with the managers on the Total Rewards team. The HRP maintains an effective level of business literacy about each unit's financial position, its midrange plans, its culture, and its competition.

Responsibilities
- Provide guidance/consultation to managers and staff in designated departments in all areas of human resources management.
- Conducts regular meetings with respective business units, including engagement in staff and leadership team meetings.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
- Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies
- Manages and resolves employee relations issues. Consulting with Strategic HR Partnering team when needed. Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
- Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.
- Provides guidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
- Identifies training needs for business units and individual executive coaching needs.
- Attend community events and job fairs to build relationships and promote the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) in support of talent management for designated departments.
- Assist in planning and delivery of employee orientation and HR training programs.
- Assist in data collection and reporting of HR metrics, as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources Partners and Recruiting
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in human resources or related field or equivalent experience.
- HR professional certification through HRCI and/or SHRM, or demonstrated commitment to attain certification
- Computer proficiency including experience utilizing the Microsoft Office suite, a human resources information system, and social media strategies to enhance employee engagement
- Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Effective analytical and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Effective communication, presentation, and interpersonal relations skills
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment collaborating in departmental and institutional initiatives
- Respect for confidentiality and ability to exercise discreet judgment in managing sensitive data
- Demonstrated ability to manage employee relations matters with discreet judgment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This role primarily involves extensive use of a computer and other office equipment in an office setting, with the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Regular travel between the campuses of CSB and SJU is required.
