Position Context: The mission of the Reinvent Stockton Foundation is to intentionally invest in and rigorously evaluate collective impact strategies and other force multipliers that will improve quality of life for Stockton residents. Our flagship program is Stockton Scholars, a college promise program founded in 2018 by Michael Tubbs and dedicated to guiding young people to higher education and an impactful life. Stockton Scholars has grown to partner with students, families, and the local community to create a clear path through higher education for all Stockton youth. By providing support, resources, and mentorship to make the college process simple and achievable, we will change lives in Stockton— for young people, their families, and their city.
With an initial donation of $20 million from the Spiegel Family Foundation, Stockton Scholars will provide $1,000 a year to students who will be attending 4-year universities and $500 a year to students attending 2-year colleges or trade schools. This scholarship is open to all seniors attending a public high school in Stockton through the class of 2028!

Position Description: The Stockton Scholars Program is searching for a highly skilled and highly motivated individual to serve as a College Access & Recruitment Manager. The ideal candidate will be passionate about the mission of Stockton Scholars and committed to providing equitable access to higher education. The Manager will create dynamic recruitment experiences driven by our local education systems, student needs, programmatic data, and our organizational strategic plan. They will be the first stop for our community to understand how to access higher education resources and options. They will specialize in relationship building and maximizing local partnerships like the one Stockton Scholars has with the University of the Pacific. The successful candidate will help build new partnerships focused on direct entry to a four year university, trade school, or community college. The successful candidate will maintain active communications and outreach with scholars and the community including, but not limited to social media, annual reports, student check-ins and other public correspondence.
Work will be performed primarily at the Reinvent Stockton Foundation office (located in downtown Stockton). It will be a hybrid role in nature as some of the work can be done from home. This position will also spend significant amounts of time at local high schools and higher education institutions that partner closely with Stockton Scholars (UOP, SJ Delta College, etc). Reliable transportation is required. Occasional evening or weekend events are required.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the innovation of the Stockton Scholars Community Involvement Program cohort at University of the Pacific (UOP) in Stockton
- Develop an annual strategic recruitment plan for special scholar cohorts (in coordination with the SS Associate Director to maintain or increase higher education efforts using data analysis and evidence-based practices to enhance student outcomes and academic progress
- Promote the Community Involvement Program, the Stockton Scholars Scholarship, and SS program services to local high school students
- Develop an annual scholarship recruitment plan to ensure youth in Stockton feel like higher education is an accessible option
- Lead and design the implementation of a seasonal student, high school, and community outreach strategy that focuses on scholarship promotion and applications, student support services and community engagement with relevant students, families and stakeholders
- Stakeholder relationship building on higher education campuses with an emphasis on relationships with local college and university partners (UOP & SJDC)
- Generate recruitment data and forecasting to share monthly with the SS leadership team (Director, Associate Director and Managers)
- Develop and host events which will include community meetings, scholarship nights, and parent meetings
- Represent Stockton Scholars at community events through tabling or presentations.
- Active supporter and collaborator with relevant programs, departments and staff at the University of the Pacific
- Create, develop, present and teach, high quality student programming and curriculum focused on supporting students in entering higher education
- Participates in Stockton Scholars and related partner activities and events as required
- Lead and develop the High School Ambassador Program
- Support with strategic student outreach planning and communications materials for SS annual scholarship process for special cohorts (utilizing platforms such as Mailchimp, Salesforce, Social Media, Canva Pro, and FormAssembly)
- Build and maintain a monthly newsletter for high school students that includes resources, events, and opportunities related to Stockton Scholars, college options and future opportunities
- Support program and operations with duties as assigned by Chief Program Officer and/or Associate Director (~10%)
Requirement and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Background/professional experience related to educational recruitment, college access, transition and retention, youth development and adult learning
- Public speaking and creating effective presentations
- Strong event planning and project management skills
- Skilled at creating, developing, and nurturing partnerships
- Experience working effectively with students, parents, and community members
- Development, implementation and evaluation of programs and the ability to create workshops, lesson plans and facilitate workshops
- Adaptable and flexible; able to excel in a fast-paced, small-team environment that requires team members to wear several hats and support each other’s work
- Effective time management and organizational skills and attentive to detail is a must
- Evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of students from marginalized, at-potential communities
- Participate, attend and present at National, Regional and local professional associations
- Knowledge of California college systems, Community Colleges, California State Universities, University of California and Private Colleges
- Knowledge of freshman and transfer admission process

Pay: $66,584.00 - $73,000.00 per year
