Small Nonprofit in Central Virginia seeks Executive Director
Circles Ashland, a small nonprofit serving Ashland and its surrounding communities, is seeking an Executive Director to provide organizational leadership and guidance. The mission of Circles Ashland is to help individuals rise above the Federal Poverty Level by nurturing reciprocal relationships that can transform communities. As noted in the Circles Ashland Guiding Principles, "we believe people have the capacity to change their circumstances through relationships that foster goals and measurable progress."
The Executive Director will be expected to build and nurture relationships internally and with the greater Ashland/Hanover community and act as a liaison with our national umbrella organization, Circles USA. This role involves collaborating with the board to develop long-range goals, short-term operating objectives, and action plans that can ensure sustainability and growth. Fundraising will be a critical element of this role. The Executive Director also is responsible for all staffing matters including the development of an equitable and supportive internal work culture. Currently, there are two part-time staff support positions.
The successful candidate for this position will have experience in community-based fundraising, planning, delegating, and evaluating programs, and collaborating in building partnerships and relationships. Experience in working with marginalized communities and fluency in Spanish are desirable qualities.
This position reports to the Board of Directors, specifically the Board Chair. The salary range is between $55K and $65K depending on qualifications and includes accrued PTO. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
JOB DESCRIPTION
Core Responsibilities:
· Serves as the primary leader and spokesperson for Circles Ashland and an advocate for building awareness and support for the Circles Ashland mission.
· Ensures the corporate and legal responsibilities of the organization are fulfilled.
· Serves as the principal professional resource and liaison to the Board of Directors; builds a dynamic and robust relationship with the Board and Board chair.
· Responsible for implementing policies established by the Board of Directors.
· Develops the annual budget in conjunction with the Board Treasurer; supports the financial health of the organization by employing sound fiscal measures and managing available resources and assists the Board of Directors in the development of additional funding strategies and resources.
· Provides the direction, guidance, integration, and implementation of the organization’s strategic plan including long-range goals, short term operating objectives, and action steps to ensure forward momentum and future growth.
· Responsible for aligning the work of the team across all programmatic elements and in alignment with the strategic direction of the organization.
· Provides the leadership and direction to ensure that the operational and programmatic work of the organization supports its primary mission efficiently and effectively.
· Builds and nurtures strategic stakeholder relationships and serves as the primary liaison to Circles USA.
· Keeps informed on legislation and other activities that affect the work of the organization.
· Responsible for all staffing matters including hiring, firing, training, motivating, and mentoring, to ensure a strong, diverse, and competent staff. Develop an equitable internal work culture.
· Ensures the operational and programmatic success of the organization which may include task-based activities that are outside the scope of the core responsibilities listed above.
Further, the Executive Director will:
· Report directly to the Board of Directors, but specifically to the Board Chair.
· Provide consistent and timely critical information to the Board of Directors.
· Oversee fund development and fundraising planning and implementation, including the identification of resources, and administration of grant documentation requirements.
· Ensure and maintain confidentiality of all client and Circles Ashland records as appropriate.
· Work with external consultants as necessary to meet the goals, objectives and mission of Circles Ashland.
· Prepare cost benefit analyses for all major capital expenditures or other projects (in conjunction with other fiscal responsibilities as outlined herein) for consideration by the Board of Directors.
· Seek continuing education opportunities to further the knowledge and skill of running a 501(c)3 organization.
· Develop and maintain training protocols, volunteer, safety and employee manuals that support the work of Circles Ashland.
Qualifications/Skills
· Preferred experience in community development programming and resources.
· Experience in leadership with demonstrated ability to plan, delegate, and evaluate programs.
· Ability to fasten program elements together to facilitate fluency and cohesion.
· Demonstrated ability to build strong and effective partnerships and relationships.
· Demonstrated ability to effectively build and lead a strong and effective staff.
· Knowledge of nonprofit fund development.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
