UGM was founded in 1951 by a group of Christian business people. Over the last 70+ years we have expanded across Spokane, WA, into North Idaho and down into Lewiston, ID, providing food, shelter and individualized pathways out of homelessness to men, women and children in need. Our services include comprehensive addiction and trauma recovery, legal and financial services, jobs and job training, one-on-one counseling and much more. We believe that partnering with the Inland Northwest to reach the poor with the love and power of the gospel so that they may become God-dependent, contributing members of society is a goal worth pursuing!

The Director of Men's Ministry will provide leadership and management oversight, support and accountability specifically for the UGM Men’s Mission in Spokane, WA.
These are the basics of the position:
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Result Area #1: LEADERSHIP, MANAGEMENT, & OVERSIGHT
- Train with accountability all employees to uphold UGM’s mission statement, cultural core values, and their indicators.
- Implement ministry wide Strategic Plan, ensuring that strategic objectives at WRC-Spokane are progressively achieved.
- Implement the Outcome Based Management Process, e.g. SWOT’s, SMART goals, one-on-ones.
- LIFE Recovery Programs are aligned to promote long-term recovery and life transformation.
- Waypoint success matrix is maintained with meaningful statistics to substantiate the effectiveness of the ministry.
- Director of Ministries is aware of all critical activities including staff, operations and programming within men’s ministry.
- Implement team building, training, and strategic planning meetings each trimester.
- Provide direction and oversight of the UGM’s Men’s Mission.
Key Result Area #2: STAFF
- Each staff position has a current job description with expectations designed to contribute to the objectives of Men’s Mission.
- Cooperate with Human Resources to select and interview qualified candidates.
- Provide time and resources to fully train new staff using the UGM and facility training checklist is completed within the first 60 days.
- Ensure new staff receives a safety orientation of the facility within 30 days.
- Conduct one-on-ones with direct reports and documented in their PDP a minimum of once a month with trimester review. PDP are submitted annually to HR.
- Ensure that UGM Policies and Procedures are followed at WRC-Spokane.
- UKG employee timesheets are accurate and approved to meet HR’s expectations.
- HR is informed within 24 hours of any changes to personnel, e.g. employment status, job duties, personal information.
- Any actions taken against or by an employee are documented and sent to HR to put in the employee file. Any terminations must include collaboration with HR.
Key Result Area #3: VOLUNTEERS
- Ensure that each department at Men’s Mission increases, effectively utilizes, trains, and retains volunteer staff.
- Collaborate with volunteer coordinator monthly to support and provide direction.
- Meet with Volunteer Director and Coordinator each trimester for alignment.
- Provide oversight ensuring that each volunteer has a current job description with duties designed to contribute to the objectives of Men’s Mission.
- Cooperate with the Volunteer department to select and interview qualified candidates.
- Volunteer training and appreciation opportunities will occur each trimester.
Key Result Area #4: FINANCIAL, ADMINISTRATION, OPERATIONS
- Oversight of Men’s mission budget.
- Capital expenses, personnel, and ministry budget requests submitted annually.
- Oversight of approved expenditures and supporting documents are submitted per Accounts Payable standards.
- Requests for maintenance forms and IT requests are submitted per department standards.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) maintained and updated annually.
Key Result Area #5: DEVELOPMENT, PR, FUNDRAISING
- Serves as the primary spokesperson for Men’s Mission as assigned.
- Collaborate effectively with MarCom and Development to transfer the cause and maintain the integrity of UGM branding.
- Serve and support all UGM events and trainings as assigned.
- Engage with community partners as assigned, providing opportunities for increased involvement.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Committed Christian, able and willing to model servant-leadership and interested in being part of a ministry for the poor, homeless, drug addicted and mentally ill. Grounded in the Christian faith as a mature, active member of the body of Christ. In accordance with Union Gospel Mission Statement of Purpose, Statement of Vision and Statement of Faith.
- Strong Interpersonal skills - exercise compassion and discernment while modeling the teachings of Jesus Christ.
- Able and willing, as a unified team member, to honor the leadership, chain of command, and standards and ministry objectives of Union Gospel Mission.
- Computer literate (Word, Excel, Outlook); able to complete documents, reports and accurately record information. Must be willing to continue education as needed or required.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and instructional.
- Must have a teachable spirit and the ability manage multiple emotional and task related variables, listen, and make sound decisions in alignment with UGM’s purpose
- Minimum ten years of sobriety, if in recovery.
- Insightful, trustworthy, honest, reliable, model appropriate boundaries, and strong work ethic.
- Valid Washington or Idaho driver’s license– required.
- CPR/First Aid certification – required.
- Criminal background check clearance –
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Occasionally = 1%-33%; Frequently = 34%-66%; Continuously = 67%-100%
- Work is primarily indoors and may require climbing three flights of stairs, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and going from building to building –
- Requires working with a diverse population, many of whom struggle with homelessness, addiction and mental illness –
- Requires a sustained level of high energy, stamina, and the ability to move about all of the facilities on a regular and ongoing basis –
- Requires the ability to hear, see, and speak clearly –
EQUIPMENT/TOOLS USED:
- Computer (Word, Excel, Database, Outlook, Internet), Copier/printer, Phone, Fax, Breathalyzer, and Drug Testing Kit.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- BA or MA in Business Administration, Organization Leadership or related field – preferred.
- 5+ year’s prior related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Union Gospel Mission is a privately funded 501 (c) 3 non-profit, evangelical Christian ministry. Our designated purpose is religious, and we are a Christ-centered ministry which is dedicated to sharing the Gospel and helping the homeless and impoverished. We consider every position to be essential in the fulfillment of our ministry and Statement of Purpose. As such, each employee must have a relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.

- Be able and willing to share the Gospel and participate in all of the ministry activities of Union Gospel Mission.
- Subscribe to Union Gospel Mission Statement of Faith and Statement of Purpose upon hire and continuously while employed.
