NWKareS, located in Phillipsburg, Kansas is a long-trusted and respected non-profit hospice organization. Locally known as the community's provider for quality care, this hidden gem in the NW Kansas prairie is also nationally recognized for rural hospice care. The organization provides care across 16 counties for rural families and their loved ones who are facing a serious illness or end of life. With an average patient census of 25 and aspirations of serving more, their loyal and local team of compassionate professionals prioritizes quality care and building community relationships.
Currently seeking a Chief Executive Officer to continue leading our team and meeting the needs of our community, the successful candidate will be a motivated mission-driven leader who has a strong background in leadership within a healthcare setting. Ideal candidates possess healthcare experience, preferably in homecare or hospice, a passion for providing quality end-of-life care, and the ability to engage our community to build and maintain trusting relationships and long-term partnerships. Excellent follow-through skills, integrity, and good judgement are imperative in this role. Likewise, consistent community relations and a growth mindset coupled with a focus on healthcare quality and compliant care, are highly important.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide the vision to position positively for future challenges and opportunities with goals of the highest levels of patient care, plus growth of the organization in terms of patient access and related services.
- Develop and recommend all policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit an annual operating budget.
- Monitor income and actual vs. budgeted expenses on a regular basis.
- Ensure the highest quality patient care on an overall cost-effective basis and provide ongoing reports to validate performance.
- Develop and distribute annual work plans and related performance targets.
- Develop and implement quality and risk management plans to ensure appropriate compliance.
- Assume a leadership role in the development of relationships with hospitals, nursing homes, home health and other agencies, as appropriate.
- Provide the primary interface between the Board, particularly the Chairperson, and the operations of serious illness and end-of-life Services.
- Provide the primary liaison between organization and appropriate national, state, and community units.
- Foster appropriate continuing education and training for key staff members through participation in appropriate professional associations and activities.
- Assume final responsibility for staff hires and terminations.
- Develop a highly engaged organization of committed high performers who are passionate about supporting each other and the community with excellent care.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, and local laws.
- Assume key role in funding development.
- Stay aware and current with legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements and changes.
- Adhere to the practice of confidentiality regarding patients, families, staff and the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Senior management level executive with a minimum of two years' experience.
- Program administration including knowledge of health care policies and reimbursement practices.
- 3+ years of supervisory or administrative experience in a hospice, home health agency or related program.
- Bachelor's degree. in business, health care or related field, Master's preferred.
- Senior management level executive with experience leading in serious illness and end-of-life, preferred.
