Our selection process includes the following:
Application review, phone screen, interview, agility course, Computer Voice Stress Analyzer, integrity interview, psychological suitability evaluation, background investigation, post-offer psychological evaluation and medical/drug screen.
Salary while attending the academy: $36.67/hour | $76,273.60 annually
Salary upon successful completion of the academy and POST certification: $39.30/hour | $81,744 annually

While attending the P.O.S.T. Academy the schedule will be set by the academy to include any additional training and homework that may be required outside of classroom hours. After the successful completion of the academy, work is scheduled on a rotating shift basis (Days, Swings, Graveyards) Sunday through Saturday to include holidays, weekends and overtime.
Persons hired into this class are enrolled in a state certified Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy. This class consists of learning the concepts and laws regarding responsible police work in a variety of Police Department activities including police patrol, follow-up investigation, crime prevention, court security, traffic safety, community relations and non-criminal police services, C.R.S., defensive driving, physical fitness, and basic firearms. Trainee incumbents will be required to attend and successfully pass a state certified Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy. Provide holistic services to the public by seeking ways to integrate programs or services provided by other departments, divisions and agencies. The incumbent works in partnership with other employees, departments/divisions, agencies and the public in delivering effective and innovative services

Minimum Qualifications
Training - High school graduate or GED equivalent (college credit is preferred). The department will sponsor selected candidate(s) to a state certified P.O.S.T. academy.
Experience - None.
Necessary Special Requirements - Cannot have been convicted of a felony or a disqualifying misdemeanor involving moral turpitude; possess and maintain valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment; must be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to obtain valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR certifications. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer tests in addition to the interview(s): polygraph or CVSA, physical agility obstacle course, background examination, driving records check, medical examination, psychological examination, drug screening and fingerprint check through CBI/FBI. Ability to meet Department's physical standards.
