Job Summary

The Production Specialist II is a dynamic role that merges the worlds of video, TV, print, and event production. The ideal candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality video, television programs and segments, crafting engaging press releases, and assisting with the planning and execution of college events. This position requires a creative individual with strong organizational and communication skills, capable of working flexibly to meet the demands of a varied schedule, including occasional night and weekend events. The successful candidate will be a key player in ensuring that the college's messaging is consistent, compelling, and effectively delivered across multiple platforms. This position collaborates closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications and the TV Production Manager to align production efforts with the overall marketing strategy.

 

Job Duties:

• Video & TV Production:
- Develop and pitch ideas for video, television programs or segments.
- Write and oversee the development of scripts for television shows.
- Plan and coordinate all aspects of production, including casting, location scouting, and budgeting.
- Oversee the entire production process, including directing talent, managing crew members, and ensuring the production stays on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate with team on edits to ensure the final product meets creative and technical standards.
Operate cameras, adjust focus, and direct camera shots during live or recorded broadcasts.
• Print Production (Press Releases):
- Write and distribute press releases for various college events, programs, and achievements.
- Ensure that all press releases align with the college’s branding and communication standards.
- Collaborate with departments across campus to maximize media coverage and engagement.
• Event Production:
- Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of college events, including setup and teardown.
- Provide on-site support during events, ensuring smooth operation and handling any issues that may arise.
- Work closely with the Event Coordinator and Event Committee to promote events and ensure consistency in messaging.
• General Duties:
- Maintain effective communication with production team, event staff, and external stakeholders.
-Flex schedule to meet the demands of the job, ensuring a total of 37.5 hours per week without exceeding this limit.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the college’s production, marketing, and communication needs.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, Media Production, Public Relations, or a related field, or 4-6 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, etc.).
• Strong writing skills with experience in crafting press releases.
• Experience with event planning and execution.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in TV production, including camera operation and directing live broadcasts.
• Knowledge of Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
• Adaptability to evolving programs like Canva, ChatGPT, and Prezi.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Positive growth mindset and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Basic knowledge of Mac OS, Windows OS, and Microsoft Office Suite.

• Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with a diverse team, including producers, directors, event coordinators, event committees, local press, and other key stakeholders.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends, with the ability to adjust hours to meet weekly requirements.
