Position Summary
Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid. Advises students and parents regarding financial aid options, application processes and requirements of aid programs. Evaluates and makes award adjustments and recalculations on less complex financial aid issues. May provide support for specific individual programs such as work-study, scholarships, student loans and/or assignments in accordance with the overall objectives of the department. Serves as a Campus Security Authority as defined by the Clery Act. Ensures compliance with the Family Rights and Privacy Act and all other applicable laws and regulations
Duties & Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage daily operations of the Financial Aid office including supervision in the absence of the Director.

Assist in interpreting, applying and complying with federal, state and institutional regulations governing student financial aid; maintain current working knowledge of guidelines/regulations related to financial aid

Provide eligibility information on financial aid programs to students

Manage scholarship activities, eligibility, awarding and disbursements for scholarships

Assists in answering emails sent to the financial aid office email address, including the necessary research, obtaining assistance from other staff when needed, and responding to the student/parent in a timely fashion

Assist in establishing financial aid operating guidelines for determining eligibility and allocating resources and recommending process changes/improvement.

Provide guidance to financial aid applicants and loan recipients concerning financial aid planning and available resources

Assist Director with annual reporting requirements.

Oversee the Financial Aid Appeals Process

Coordinate refunding of financial aid program funds, which includes Return of Federal Title IV compliance, in a timely and compliant manner.

Assist with Satisfactory Academic Progress process

Assist in packaging financial aid funds and communicate to students and parents as needed

Train staff on all aspects of financial aid processes

Generates all correspondence produced by the Financial Aid Office such as: award letters, verification materials, SAP notifications
-
Prepares consumer information and promotional materials, forms and public relations presentations.

Present financial aid orientation sessions and talks at the main campus and extension centers as well as high schools and college fairs.

Attend meetings and participate in committees, as assigned

Oversee student worker positions within the office (hire, terminate, train, etc.).

Assist with processing student loans

Assist with the processing of VA student files
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 20 lbs.
SCHEDULE DETAILS:
Must be available to work 40 hrs. per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Education Administration, Finance, or a related field.

Minimum of three years experience in higher education, accounting, finance, or other business-related field.

Computer experience with various systems including Microsoft Office.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
-
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse levels of students and internal and external customers.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Experience administering Title IV federal student aid. Knowledge of BANNER or Workday.
