Starting Salary: $90,000-$100,000

Executive Director Position Description

Position Title: Executive Director

Reports To: Prairie Center Board of Directors

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Prairie Center Against Sexual Assault provides advocacy, counseling and prevention services in an eleven county area in Central Illinois. The Executive Director plays a crucial role in shaping the mission, vision, and overall direction of the organization. The successful candidate will bring a proactive and innovative mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead change in a dynamic environment. The Executive Director works closely with the board of directors and senior staff to leverage the organization’s strengths and implement necessary changes to address and resolve existing challenges.

 

Strategic Leadership and Vision

· Develop and articulate the organization's mission, vision, and strategic direction.

· Identify and address key operational and strategic challenges within the organization.

· Lead strategic planning processes and ensure alignment of goals and initiatives.

· Develop and implement effective solutions to enhance efficiency, optimize processes, and drive organizational growth.

 

Resource Development and Grant Writing

· Develops fundraising strategies to ensure the financial health of the organization through fundraising and donor cultivation.

· Regularly interacts with donors.

· Prepares private and publicly funded grants and grant-related reports.

 

Financial Performance and Viability

· Accountable for fiscal integrity that ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

· Responsible for sound fiscal management including the ability to develop annual budgets, cost allocation plans and monitor receipt and expenditure of funds, and operate within an approved budget.

· Oversees fiscal reporting including functions necessary for auditing and compliance with federal and state regulation in accordance with accepted accounting principles, the policies and procedures of funding entities and all other applicable rules and guidelines.

· Fluency with computer technology and software, including spreadsheets.

 

Accounts Payable Management

· Responsible for invoice approval, payment preparation and payment execution via the services of an offsite bookkeeper.

· Responsible for the accurate filing and retention of invoices.

· Assist in the preparation for internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations regarding invoice processing and payments.

 

Program Excellence

· Works with Program Directors to ensure smooth operation and effective delivery of advocacy, counseling, and prevention services.

· Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.

· Ensures program performance strategies are met.

· Ensures outcome data is collected, analyzed, and aggregated per grant.

· Maintains regular contact with Taylorville and Jacksonville locations.

 

Public Relations

Effectively communicates the value of the Prairie Center mission to community stakeholders to increase sexual assault awareness from a survivor-centered point of view.

Regularly interacts with community stakeholders.

 

Board Governance

· Develop, maintain, and support a strong Board of Directors; serve as ex-officio of Board committees; seek and build Board involvement.

· Communicate effectively with the Board and provide timely and accurate financial and program information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

 

Specific requirements include:

· Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).

· Minimum of 4 years of senior management experience in a not-for-profit corporation or in the area of public administration or grant management.

· Oversees program management and supervision of daily operations at three office locations.

· Familiarity with the operational and infrastructure of a mid-size nonprofit.

· Good understanding of the operations and infrastructure of a mid-size nonprofit.

· Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.

· Proven success in securing and managing grants, building donor relationships, and developing innovative fundraising strategies.

· Experience with federal and state grant rules and compliance.

· Ability to cultivate existing board member relationships and recruit new members.

· Strong written and oral communication skills.

· Strong public speaking ability.

· An independent work ethic and diligence.

· Residency in the Prairie Center Service Area is preferred.

Employment Type- Exempt

35 hours per week, some evenings and weekends will be required. Candidates must have a drivers license and reliable transportation
