JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment
* Advise on integration of new emerging industry technologies to the program"s systems
* Implement engineering changes to the system as required
* Review, analyze, and incorporate technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures
* Responsible for completing the network configurations and coordinating with the peers, SMEs, and government engineers.
* Occasional travel may be required
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* U.S. citizenship
* The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret level clearance
* Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 8 years of experience; OR
* 6 years of relevant experience with a Master (MS) degree; OR
* 3 years of experience with STEM PhD degree;
* An additional 4 years of relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor degree.
* Experience with network design, architecture, specifications, and equipment selection.
* Understanding of IP4 and IPv6 network design, including IP sub-netting and protocols including BGP, OSPF and EIGRP.
* Understanding of network device configuration and troubleshooting (ideally, Cisco IOS/IOS-XE).
* Understanding of advanced features like GRE, IPSEC, IP quality-of-service, VLANs, and multicast.
* Familiar with network management protocols, like SNMP, SSH, syslog, RADIUS/TACACS.
* Full on-site presence at San Diego Spectrum Center campus
* Ability to travel 10% of the time.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Active U.S. Government DOD Secret Clearance
* DoD 8570 Security certification such as Sec+, CASP, CISSP, or equivalent.
* A professional certification specific to the networking industry like a CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or equivalent.
* Familiar with network management applications, like Splunk, Firepower Management Center (FMC), and/or Cisco ISE.
* Exposure to the Risk Management Framework, associated security controls, and STIGs.
* Familiar with Windows, Linux, and VMWare configuration and troubleshooting.
* Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.
* Experience with tactical/military radio networks, like Common Data Link (CDL) and ANW2.
* Experience with (MIL) SATCOM equipment and services.
* Experience with Cisco Unified Communications / VoIP and VTC
* Experience with Cisco Modelling Labs (CML) or Virtual Internet Routing Lab (VIRL).
* Proficiency with MS Office tools, including PowerPoint and Visio
