Summary of Position

Keene State College seeks applications for a Industrial Hygieniest for the WorkWISE NH Program to provide consultative services to employers throughout New Hampshire regarding OSHA standards, industrial hygiene practices, and methods for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace health hazardsThis is a full-time, year round, grant-funded position. The position is contingent upon grant funding; continuance of the position is expected upon grant renewal conditions and grant funding.

This position is a hybrid role, will require 1 day/week on campus*


Additional responsibilities include assisting employers with air and noise monitoring, chemical exposure assessments, and implementing corrective actions to mitigate potential health risks.

WorkWISE NH provides free, on-site consultive services to eligible employers throughout New Hampshire. Although these services are primarily targeted to small businesses with less than 250 employees, the program welcomes the opportunity to assist employers of any size. Whether an employer has a question about the safe use of a specific piece of equipment or is looking to establish a workplace safety program, highly qualified consultants are available to provide employers with such assistance. Other minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety or related discipline and at least 3 years of experience in Industrial Hygiene practices.
  • Effective oral and written communications skills to interact and communicate environmental health and safety procedures to small and medium size business in New Hampshire.
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, supervisors, and employees under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to respond promptly and in-person to client locations throughout New Hampshire that require environmental health and safety services.
  • Ability to wear and use appropriate protective equipment as necessary.
  • Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of program.
  • Knowledge of laws concerning workplace environmental safety.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree
  • 5 years of related experience

Salary Information

Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off. The position is contingent upon grant funding; continuance of the position is expected upon grant renewal conditions and grant funding. The position falls within the Keene State College Staff Association (KSCSA).

Duty/Responsibility

Consultation -Provide New Hampshire employers (particularly small businesses) with consultative services to explain and interpret OSHA standards and industrial hygiene protocols, advise on policy/protocol development, and identify solutions for workplace health hazards. This may include conducting industrial hygiene assessments, such as air sampling, noise monitoring, and chemical exposure evaluations, to assess and mitigate workplace health risks. These duties include travel to and from employer worksites and facilities.
