Development Officer

Scouting America Grand Canyon Council

Job Description

Full job description

Job Type: Full-Time Exempt

Compensation: $55,200, inclusive of $49,500 starting salary and $425 monthly vehicle and $50 phone stipends.

Looking for a career in a dynamic environment that gives you experience in public relations, sales, project management, and public speaking? Looking for a rewarding career opportunity that improves the lives of children, their families, and the entire community? Are you a people-person who doesn’t want to sit in an office making cold calls all day?

Grand Canyon Council, the Arizona-based nonprofit that represents Scouting America in Phoenix and most of Arizona, seeks energetic candidates for the role of Development Officer.

A Development Officer is a full-time employee (salary + benefits) who works with fellow staff and volunteers to grow and support funding for Scouting programs in the local community. We’ll teach you how to work with community and business leaders to research potential funding sources and grow a pipeline of funds that benefit youth through Scouting programs in Arizona.

Our work environment is dynamic, and this is not a 9-5 office-based job. Our team is out in the community meeting with donors and community leaders and every day is different.

Benefits include $49,500 starting salary, performance-based bonus compensation, health insurance, 403(b) (with matching after first year of service), and cell phone and mileage reimbursement. We offer 13 paid holidays, paid sick time, and 12 annual days of PTO (rising to 24 annually, with tenure). Our professional development plan includes onboarding, initial training, and ongoing annual supplemental growth. This is a great position for someone early in their career (or beginning their second career) who wants to develop a broad-based skillset and network that they can leverage for their next career opportunity.

Our ideal candidate enjoys working with people, can comfortably use technologies like web apps and office software, and is motivated to achieve goals. A valid Driver License, 4-year degree from an accredited college/university, and ability to be legally employed in the United States are required for this position.

To learn more, contact Andrew at Andrew.Dilliner@grandcanyonbsa.org and email a resume and cover letter indicating your interest. Previous experience in Scouting is NOT necessary, but energy & enthusiasm are required.
