This is a part-time teaching position.
Specific Position Duties
1. Conduct instruction using a classroom approach of teacher facilitation, group learning, class projects, and individual student work;
2. Submit lesson plans which conform to College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults to the TxCHSE Coordinator in a timely manner;
3. Create a classroom environment that promotes active learning;
4. Implement a variety of instructional methods and techniques and make full use of technology available at the Odessa College TxCHSE Program;
5. Make a substitute instruction plan for substitutes when appropriate;
6. Evaluate students’ progress regularly;
7. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by Odessa College and the Texas Workforce Commission;
8. Carry out all duties deemed necessary for the success of the program;
9. Collaborate with other instructional coaches to create a positive learning culture;
10. Function within the policies and administrative procedures of Odessa College;
11. Keep up with new teaching methods and update teaching style to reflect changes;
12. Attend meetings and in-service training as required; and
13. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university;
2. Ability to maintain a professional teacher/student productive relationship;
3. Ability to work under high energy, high pressure situations;
4. Strong problem solving skills; and
5. Empathy and a sincere desire to help others help themselves.

Preferred Qualifications
1. Texas Teaching Certificate
2. Specialized training in best practices and differentiation of instruction
3. Training in Contextualized Instruction
6. Experience in Adult Basic Education, or related field;
7. Proven teaching ability working with adults;
4. Proven ability to improve test scores
