Class Description
The purpose of this class is to coordinate, support and lead the Female Student Success Initiative to foster an environment of engagement with students, faculty and staff. The coordinator will work on the Essex campus and may be assigned to work on other CCBC campuses occasionally for program events and activities.
Promotes student success by coordinating high impact activities and intensive, structured mentoring activities for students. Works with faculty, staff and administrators to design, implement, and evaluate strategies and activities to promote student success.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s in business, social service, counseling, education or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. One year of full-time experience in advising, counseling, coaching, case management, mentoring, workforce development, and/or higher education required.
Class Specific Essential Duties
- Coordinate, manage and facilitate Female Student Success Initiative.
- Oversee the management of student recruitment for the Female Student Success Initiative college-wide.
- Coordinate, plan, and implement the student programming and mentoring model including workshops and training sessions.
- Coordinate and schedule on-campus and virtual events.
- Coordinate outreach to faculty and staff regarding the Female Student Success Initiative.
- Assist in managing the Female Student Success Initiative in partnership with the Dean, School of Writing, Literacy & Languages (SWLL) and the Dean, Special Academic Programs
- Input, analyze, process and report on Female Student Success Initiative data.
- Correspond regularly with the Dean, SWLL and Dean, Special Academic Programs to ensure Female Student Success Initiative needs are met.
- Organize, conduct, and lead the Female Student Success Initiative activities.
- Maintain working relationship with ConEd Program Coordinators and CCBC Career Services to provide mutual benefit and sharing resources.
- Function as a mentor when needed, providing structured activities and face-to-face individual meetings with participating students. Structured activities will include team building workshops, self-reflection and personal discovery exercises, interpersonal relationship skill building, field trips in the community, and other related elements.
- Provide career direction and guidance for Female Student Success Initiative students. Guidance might include credit and non-credit programs.
- Track and document student progress and outcomes according to the Female Student Success Initiative policies and procedures.
- Establish, develop, and maintain relationships with community groups and organizations to assist the Female Student Success Initiative students with mentoring activities and to recruit community partners to volunteer as mentors.
- Recruit, screen, train, and onboard volunteer mentors and match with participating students.
- Provide ongoing support to volunteer mentors and procure regular updates to ensure adequate mentoring support is provided to students.
