Position Overview

The Department of Health Sciences and Nursing in the College of Arts and Sciences at Rider University is seeking candidates at the Associate Professor level for a tenure-track position to serve as Department Chair in support of programs in health sciences, exercise science, and nursing. 
 
Rider’s Department of Health Sciences and Nursing features interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs to prepare students to enter a variety of careers in health care, nursing, wellness and other health professions. Using a practice-based approach, we provide students with extensive knowledge and experience to better serve and provide strong health and wellness outcomes for our rapidly changing population. Successful candidates will have a terminal degree in a relevant field of study and demonstrate a commitment to teaching, scholarship and advising. The precise area of specialization is open. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other faculty, mentor junior faculty within the department, and advise students are essential.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • PhD or other relevant terminal degree. Clinical doctorates (DAT, DPT, DNP, DOT) may be considered with appropriate experience.  
  • Demonstrated experience and scholarly record consistent with Associate Professor rank. 
  • 3 or more years of demonstrated experience in departmental, university, and professional leadership positions.
  • Demonstrable experience using student focused pedagogy in health science, exercise science, and/or nursing courses.
  • Evidence of an established research program involving students. 
  • Demonstrated experience advising, and mentoring students.
  • Demonstrated experience with curriculum development and growth.
  • Satisfactory background and/or DMV checks required. 
  • Candidates with a demonstrated commitment supportive of the multicultural needs of Rider University and the surrounding community are highly desired.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • History of developing and/or engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships with internal and external constituents, including assisting with the development and supervision of affiliated sites for capstone internship experiences. 
  • Experience with programmatic accreditation consistent with the breadth of academic disciplines in the department (e.g., CAAHEP, CoAES, CASCE,  rCAATE, CCNE, CNEA, ACEN, etc.).
  • National certification in an exercise science related field (e.g., NSCA CSCS, ACSM CEP, CSCCa, if coming from an exercise science background).
  • National certification and licensure as a family nurse practitioner or an adult-gerontology primary care nurse practitioner, if coming from a nursing background.
